Chapter 32 The house structure is wrong
Chapter 32 The house structure is wrong
"Who?!" Lu Yiming turned around abruptly!
Behind me was only an empty bathroom. Where were any human faces?
He quickly walked over to check the full-length mirror and the wardrobe next to it; everything was normal.
"Are you seeing things? Or is it just water vapor?"
I've been under too much stress lately, and my nerves are on edge.
He composed himself, wrapped the towel around his waist tightly, and walked barefoot back to the bedroom.
I turned off the lights and just lay down.
dong... dong... dong...
A clear knock came at the door, which was quite jarring in the dead of night.
Lu Yiming held his breath.
Who is it? Mia? Nobody knows he moved yet.
dong... dong... dong...
The knocking continued.
He quickly got up and reached under the pillow for Glock.
I tiptoed to the master bedroom balcony and looked down through the window.
There was no one in front of the door. The knocking stopped abruptly.
"It's probably the wind..."
He consoled himself with a thought and prepared to turn around and go back to his room to sleep.
"Waaaah... Ugh..."
A sharp, whimpering sound entered my ears again.
It sounded like a woman crying, or a child sobbing, intermittent and sometimes near, sometimes far.
"Damn!" Lu Yiming pushed the safety off the gun, sweat sliding down his cheeks.
Is there someone hiding in this house?!
He didn't believe in ghosts or monsters. It could only be people playing tricks!
It could be a former tenant, a homeless person, or even a wanted criminal.
Click!
Just then, the sound of a key turning in the door could be heard.
Who has the keys to the house? The landlord? Or that bald real estate agent?
Lu Yiming held his breath, gripped his gun with both hands, and quietly walked down the stairs.
The living room was pitch black, with only the blurry outlines of the furniture visible.
His heightened perception allowed him to quickly detect unusual activity.
"Good heavens, thieves even dare to steal from police officers' homes?"
A slender, delicate figure was groping for something in the darkness.
It even bumped into the coffee table.
It's now!
Lu Yiming suddenly darted out, pounced on the thief, and subdued him with a sweep of his arm.
Hmm? Something feels off? Soft and quite substantial? Is she a female thief?
"Ah!" came a gasp.
Immediately afterwards, Lu Yiming felt dizzy and was flung around by a clever force!
boom!
He was cleanly and decisively thrown over the shoulder and slammed onto the floor, his bath towel almost completely undone.
Snap! The headlights were switched on, illuminating the entire living room.
He saw Mia, with her blonde hair disheveled, standing in front of him, clutching her chest, her face flushed.
"Lu Yiming! You filthy scoundrel! What are you doing?!"
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry..."
Lu Yiming grimaced as he got up, sensing something was wrong: "Apologize my ass! This is my house! How did you get in?!"
He then saw that Mia was wearing a tight-fitting tracksuit and holding keys in her hand.
"Where did you get the key?!"
Mia's eyes darted around, and she said somewhat guiltily, "Ah, I was just... jogging by..."
She would never say that all the properties in this area belong to her family.
I specially asked for a spare key tonight to watch Lu Yiming make a fool of himself, but before I could even get started, I was taken advantage of.
"You went for a jog in someone's living room? And didn't you tell me this house is haunted?!"
"Ah...you, you knew all along..."
Seeing that she couldn't hide it any longer, she simply admitted it.
But the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up, and she forced herself to suppress her laughter.
"Nonsense! I knew you weren't that kind! You really turned my house into a haunted house!"
Lu Yiming felt a little uneasy under their gaze and quickly tied his bath towel.
She recounted the blood that had just occurred, the face in the mirror, the knocking on the door, and the sobbing.
"Oh, no big deal... I'll just pay you back the rent~"
Mia muttered under her breath, her tone tinged with guilt, but Lu Yiming clearly saw her turn her head and chuckle to herself.
"No need!" Lu Yiming waved his hand. "There are no ghosts in this house at all. It's just someone playing tricks."
His gaze swept across the spacious living room.
"I suspect there are other people hiding in this house."
"Is...is someone there?" Mia swallowed, not afraid at all, but rather excited.
She said eagerly, "Then... shall we find it?"
Just then.
Boom!Boom!Boom!
That eerie knocking sounded again!
Moreover, they were on the first floor this time, so they heard it very clearly.
"what!"
Mia was startled and instinctively shrank closer to Lu Yiming, hugging his arm with both hands.
He's such a terrible player, yet he loves to play games.
"Be gentle!" This girl has quite a bit of strength.
Lu Yiming pushed her away, made a shushing gesture, and began to listen intently.
This time, they were near the entrance hall, and there was absolutely no one outside the door.
The knocking seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"Is...is there really a ghost?" Mia's voice trembled slightly.
"What a load of rubbish!" Lu Yiming cursed, closed his eyes, and maximized his perception.
A few seconds later, he opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling.
"The sound... is coming from upstairs, upstairs."
He shielded Mia in front of him, using her as a human shield.
"Let's go upstairs!"
The two of them tiptoed up the stairs leading to the second floor.
The stairs are made of wood and make a "creaking" sound when you step on them.
"Ouch!" Mia gasped, "You've got your gun pointed at me!"
Lu Yiming was baffled and raised his Glock: "I have my gun in my hand, I'm not pointing it at you."
……
"Waaaah... Ugh..."
The crying sounded again, this time clearer! It seemed to be coming from the wall next to them.
Mia was so frightened that her hair stood on end, and she grabbed Lu Yiming's arm tightly.
Lu Yiming pressed his ear against the wall and listened for a few seconds.
"That sound...is it a cat meowing? Is it a cat meowing during its heat cycle?"
"A cat? How come a cat is in the wall?" Mia also put her ear close to the wall.
"After eliminating all the impossible, what remains, however unbelievable, is the truth."
Lu Yiming muttered to himself, suddenly realizing what was going on.
"There's something wrong with the house's structure. There might be a hidden room, and inside that, a cat or a person could be trapped."
"A secret room? Let's quickly find the entrance!" Mia looked eager to try again.
She may not be very good at it, but she really loves to have fun.
Lu Yiming's lips twitched:
"Young lady, aren't you afraid that what's hiding in the secret room isn't a cat, but a living person? Or some kind of psychopathic killer?"
"What are you afraid of! We're both police officers. Have you ever seen a cat afraid of a mouse?"
Lu Yiming sighed helplessly. In the far east, mice really do fight cats.
He bent his fingers and tapped on the wall of the staircase.
Thump, thump... all solid, muffled sounds.
Until he knocked on the wall of the master bathroom.
Boom, boom, boom...
The sound was noticeably hollow and had a strong echo.
"It's hollow! There's space in the back!" Lu Yiming's spirits lifted.
He looked at the full-length mirror next to him and recalled the face he had just seen in the mirror.
If there is no space behind the mirror, the seeping mist and light can refract a person's image.
If you press your hand on the mirror, your finger and the reflection in the mirror will fit perfectly together; it is a two-way mirror.
"This mirror is installed too securely; it doesn't seem like it has any hidden mechanism..."
He then looked at the solid wood wardrobe next to him. The wardrobe was right next to the hollow wall.
I opened the cabinet door, and it was empty. I tapped on the back panel of the wardrobe.
"Thump—thump—" An even more obvious hollow sound!
"The mechanism is right here." Lu Yiming began to grope around inside the wardrobe, trying to find the mechanism.
Mia watched from the side, casually holding onto the wooden trim on the side of the wardrobe.
"Why don't we just grab a shovel and break the wardrobe open?"
Before she could finish speaking, her fingers twisted unintentionally.
Crunch—
A spinning sound rang out!
Immediately afterwards, the entire heavy solid wood wardrobe, along with the wall it was backing, began to rotate like a revolving door in a hotel lobby!
"Ah!" Mia screamed, caught off guard.
Driven by the force of the spin, she crashed directly onto Lu Yiming inside the wardrobe.
Pfft!Pfft!
The two embraced, pulled into the darkness by the spinning wardrobe, and tumbled awkwardly down the stairs...
