Chapter 590 - 609: A New Venture Sets Sail
After regaining his confidence, Qian Xingxing, though still haggard, no longer looked so defeated and listless.
Jiang Qiuqiu asked where Sister Mingmei had gone.
"I sent her home," Qian Xingxing sighed. "I was afraid he would target her."
Besides, there wasn’t much going on here lately. It was pointless for both of them to just sit around doing nothing.
"Oh, I see. In that case, we can have her start the recruiting process."
"Right. The school year has just begun, so there are a lot of recent graduates looking for jobs, and others looking for internships. We shouldn’t have any trouble recruiting."
Jiang Qiuqiu agreed. "It would be best to hire an experienced manager, too."
Managing an entire company is completely different from taking over a branch.
To ensure the company’s stability, finding an experienced manager was a top priority.
"By the way, about Plan B—starting a new company—have you thought about the live-streaming software? What’s the plan for the technical side?"
"I’ve... had some ideas about that." But he hadn’t thought it through completely. At the time, Qian Xingxing had been so sure he was going to win. Thinking of this, he blushed slightly.
’That was fine. Just having a plan was a good start. A new business could be built up slowly.’
"I’ve got my eye on a small live-streaming app. I’m planning to acquire it so we’ll have our own foundational app."
The two of them discussed the new company, the app, and its various features for a while.
It was all theoretical at this point, but the discussion helped boost both of their confidence.
After that, Jiang Qiuqiu brought up her live-streaming contract with the Federation.
"What’s going to happen with the top-tier contract I signed?"
"Breach the contract?" That would likely mean paying a massive penalty.
"No need for that." Qian Xingxing thought that the one time he had been truly clever was with her contract. "The agreement we signed isn’t a traditional top-tier contract."
At the time, Jiang Qiuqiu had mentioned she had to attend school and might not be able to meet the streaming hours required by a top-tier contract.
Qian Xingxing hadn’t wanted to tie the young woman down with a restrictive contract. Besides, her education was important, so he had modified the supplementary clauses of her top-tier contract.
They signed a partnership-style agreement, which means Jiang Qiuqiu has the right to request a termination of the contract herself.
"You can submit a request directly to the company, citing your busy academic schedule as the reason."
"I didn’t include a penalty clause for breach of contract."
’That was absolutely brilliant.’
"So for now, should I just keep streaming on this platform?"
"Everything stays the same for now. Once I’ve secured the new company and the app, we’ll figure out our next move."
"Okay."
Just as she said that, Jiang Qiuqiu felt her terminal vibrate a few times, followed by the familiar ringtone she had set for a priority contact.
She gave him an apologetic look. "Sorry, I have to take this call."
"No problem, Qiuqiu. Go ahead."
Jiang Qiuqiu walked to a corner of the break room. A voice she hadn’t heard in what felt like forever reached her ears. "Qiuqiu."
"Are you out of your meeting?"
"How did you know I was in a meeting?"
"I guessed. You only ignore my messages when you’re in a meeting."
Mo Si asked, "Is your military training over?"
"Yeah, it’s over."
It was a somewhat meaningless conversation, but it filled them both with a sense of warmth.
’So this is what it felt like to miss someone—you could be talking complete nonsense over the terminal and still feel this happy.’
"Are you at Starry Sky Wander right now?" Mo Si asked, taking off his cap. "I’m heading back right away."
"Nope, I’m not back yet," Jiang Qiuqiu said softly. "But I’m about to head back soon."
"Where are you? I’ll come pick you up."
After a moment’s thought, she sent him her coordinates.
On the other end, Mo Si immediately stood up, opened the door, and left his office. He walked straight to the parking garage and drove off in a hovercar that had been "sleeping" there for a long time.
