My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 229: Stepping Into The Realm Of The Extraordinary [Part 3]

Chapter 229: Stepping Into The Realm Of The Extraordinary [Part 3]

Leone looked at the sky with a serious gaze.

He didn’t know if Maximus was safe or not because it suddenly disappeared from his room.

If it weren’t for Daedalus continuously monitoring its condition and assuring its Master that the Kobold’s life was not in any danger, Leone might have become worried sick by now.

The light in the sky only shone brighter, illuminating the darkness of the night.

Logan, Khan, and Rasta, who had also realized that something was happening in the Aslan Tribe, hurried to return only to be met with this magnificent scene above their heads.

"What’s happening?" Logan asked the Orc shaman.

"What else?" Rasta replied helplessly. "Leone might have done something again."

Khan nodded in agreement. If there was ever anything abnormal happening in the Aslan Tribe, Leone was most likely the one behind it.

A few minutes later, another powerful roar shook the heavens. But this time, the light dimmed a bit.

Slowly but surely, the light began to descend toward the fortress where Leone stood.

When it was only a few meters away from the young man, the light finally receded, and soon, a two-meter tall creature appeared before him.

It had a pair of draconic wings behind its back, and its body was covered in scales of pure white.

A long tail swayed behind it, and two majestic horns curved backward from the sides of its head, giving it an imposing appearance.

Its physique was lean and powerful, perfectly balancing strength and agility. Every movement carried a sense of grace, giving those who saw it an impression of a noble dragon rather than a mere Kobold.

However, the most striking of all were its eyes.

They shone like molten gold, containing an ancient dignity in them that would even make veteran warriors lower their gaze unconsciously.

"Thank you, Master."

For the first time since Leone had summoned it, Maximus was finally able to talk properly.

A brief moment of silence descended upon Grimjaw Mountain as Leone stretched out his hand toward his first Familiar, who had now transformed into a powerful being that was leagues beyond its former self.

Maximus smiled faintly as it landed on the ramparts, holding its Master’s hand before kneeling in front of him.

The Kobold had now evolved into a Sacred Dragonkin. Yet, despite how powerful it was, its loyalty toward its Master remained unchanged.

Maximus had already pledged its eternal loyalty to Leone long ago. Not even time would be able to sever this bond between them.

A moment later, Daedalus projected Maximus’ Status Page for Leone’s eyes only.

"You’re now very strong, Maximus," Leone said softly. "I’m happy for you."

"This is all thanks to your grace, Master," Maximus replied. "I will never forget this for as long as I live."

Once again, the Aslan Tribe had gained another powerful protector whom they could count on in times of danger.

Leone’s vassals were also very happy for the white Kobold, who did its best to help its Master by taking their digging projects seriously.

Though now that it had become stronger than them, they wondered if Maximus would resign from its position as the project manager of their digging operations.

While this was happening, the Kobolds, who were looking at Maximus from a distance, all knelt.

"The heavens have not forsaken us..." Caius said with tears streaming down the sides of its face. "It has not forsaken us..."

Titus, who knelt beside its chieftain, also felt emotional.

Kobolds worshiped dragons with a passion. For them, serving one would be the greatest honor they could possibly receive in life.

And now, a being that was still a Kobold yet possessed the true blood of an ancient dragon had appeared before them.

They had lost their home, but Leone extended his hand toward them and gave them a new one.

However, the grudge they felt toward the Orcs still remained.

The same Orcs who had driven them off from their homes and killed their brethren even became the allies of the Aslan Tribe. It was a blow they found difficult to bear.

They could understand why Leone did it, but the wounds in their hearts were still fresh.

All of them endured this feeling of helplessness in their hearts, while still doing their best to look forward to a bright tomorrow.

And finally, the heavens had answered them.

Someone who could lead them.

Someone whom they could worship and trust.

Someone who would light their world had finally arrived.

As the Kobolds wept with their hands clasped in prayer, they sensed a presence hovering over them.

Maximus gently landed on the ground a few meters away from Caius and Titus.

The chieftain of the Kobolds couldn’t see properly because its vision was blurred with tears.

And yet, it didn’t need eyes to see who was standing before it.

"You did well," Maximus said as he crouched down to rest its claw on the chieftain’s shoulder before looking at the rest of the Kobolds, who were starting to bawl their eyes out. "All of you did very well."

Leone watched this scene with a faint smile on his face. He also felt sorry for the Kobolds, understanding that they were simply doing their best to survive.

But now that Maximus had evolved into a being the Kobolds would treat as a deity, he hoped that they would finally be able to move on from the past and welcome the future that was about to unfold.

Suddenly, the young man gazed upward. There, he saw the chieftains of the high-ranking tribes watching them from afar.

His gaze met Hagen’s, and soon, the latter gazed back at him.

Right now, the chieftain of the Grimhowl Tribe didn’t know if he was regretting his decision to give the Dragon’s Blood to Leone or not.

In the end, he just sighed internally before walking away.

What was done was done. And for better or worse, he had given Leone another opportunity to make the Aslan Tribe stronger than ever.

When Hagen entered his residence, one of his warriors knelt before him.

"Tell everyone to abort the plan on infiltrating the fortress," Hagen ordered. "I don’t need to tell you why, yes?"

"Understood, My Chieftain!" The warrior bowed respectfully before taking his leave.

Hagen sighed a second time before shaking his head helplessly. Now that the die had been cast, he would have to revise his plan on how he should deal with the Aslan Tribe in the future.

He had a feeling that Leone could either become the thorn on his side, or an ally that would help him realize his dreams.

’I hope you are the latter, Leone,’ Hagen thought. ’I really don’t want to kill someone as talented as you.’
