Chapter 422 - 415: Do You Take Our Quinn Family for a Vegetable Market?
But Jean Jarvis’s words made Cedric Grant frown. He looked at her, confused, and asked, "Someone else is coming? Who?"
Jean Jarvis gave him a calm look. "You’ll know when they get here."
Cedric Grant grew uneasy. He wanted to press her for more, but with Theodore Quinn and his wife present, it wasn’t the right time to cause a scene.
He stared at Jean Jarvis for a moment, his mind racing. ’What is she planning now?’ He couldn’t quite figure it out, but one thing was certain: she didn’t want him to help clear up the truth about Clara Grant’s parentage.
If he insisted on helping Clara Grant, he couldn’t guarantee that Jean Jarvis wouldn’t cause a scene today and put everyone in an awkward position.
But it would also be inappropriate for him to just get up and leave now without a proper explanation.
Just as he was wondering how to resolve the situation, the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he pulled out his phone and answered. After listening for a moment, he shot to his feet, his expression tense. "What? How could this happen? Okay, okay, I’ll head back immediately."
After hanging up, he immediately turned to Theodore Quinn and Sienna Hale apologetically. "Brother Quinn, Sienna, I am so sorry. A major problem has suddenly come up with a project at the company, and I have to go back to deal with it. As for Clara’s situation, I’ll explain everything properly to you later."
Theodore Quinn also stood up, his face unreadable. He said to him, "Yes, company matters are important. You should go."
Cedric Grant nodded and turned to leave. Sienna Hale, however, anxiously opened her mouth to call him back, but Theodore Quinn stopped her with a look.
As soon as Cedric Grant was gone, Jean Jarvis also stood up. She said to Theodore Quinn and his wife, "Well then, Brother Quinn, Sienna, I’ll be heading back as well."
With that, she nodded at the two of them and also turned to leave.
Watching them both disappear through the doorway, Sienna Hale was so angry she pointed at the door and looked at Theodore Quinn. "What... What was that all about? Do they think the Quinn family home is a marketplace? They just come and go as they please.
"Cedric Grant called last night saying he was going to explain things, and we’ve been waiting for him here since early this morning. In the end, he didn’t say a single word! And that Jean Jarvis is even worse—showing up out of nowhere and leaving just as bizarrely. And you just let them walk away!"
Theodore Quinn stared at the doorway, his eyes narrowing slightly in a thoughtful expression.
After a moment, he withdrew his gaze and looked at the furious Sienna Hale. He smiled and patted her shoulder, signaling for her to calm down.
"Can’t you see what’s happening? Cedric Grant said he was coming to explain, but he was probably just afraid our Quinn family would abandon Clara Grant for good. He was planning to find some excuse to convince us that everything Chloe Grant said was a lie and that Clara is his biological daughter."
"Because, just as Seth said, Cedric Grant isn’t a fool. He knows the Grant Family can only get the maximum benefit from us if he guarantees Clara marries into our family. As for Jean Jarvis, she was just here to stir up trouble."
Sienna Hale was confused. "Why would she stir up trouble? If the Grant Family benefits, isn’t she a beneficiary too?"
Theodore Quinn looked at her and said, "Don’t forget, she and Skylar Hayes are Cedric Grant’s current and former wives. They’re love rivals, in a sense. If Clara successfully marries into our family, Cedric is bound to look more favorably upon Clara and her mother. How could she tolerate her own husband placing more importance on his ex-wife’s daughter?"
"Besides, she had always hoped her own daughter, Chloe Grant, would marry Miles. In the end, her own daughter failed to marry into our family, while her rival’s daughter is about to become the Young Mistress of the Quinn Family. How could she possibly tolerate that?"
