Chapter 365: First Battle
Chapter 365: First Battle
Upon hearing Lin Xinghai’s warning, everyone immediately went on alert.
Though they hadn’t seen the horde of Zombies yet, no one doubted Lin Xinghai’s words.
As for Little Fatty and Jin Tong, they were not only on guard but also faintly excited. They both instinctively turned their gazes to Lin Xinghai.
’This time, we’ll finally get to see what Lin Xinghai is capable of.’
"Boss, what should we do?" Little Fatty licked his lips and asked in a low voice.
"Stick to the plan I laid out earlier," Lin Xinghai said.
"What plan?" Little Fatty looked baffled. ’Did I space out? I don’t remember Lin Xinghai mentioning any plan at all.’
He glanced at Jin Tong and saw the same baffled expression on his face.
’That’s a relief!’ Little Fatty sighed internally. He then looked to Lin Xinghai, waiting for his answer.
"On the transport, didn’t we discuss how to deal with a Zombie horde?"
"I will take care of all the High Level Zombies. Liu Miaomiao and Jin Tong will team up to deal with the Intermediate Zombies. As for you, Ye Xin, you just need to handle the Ordinary Zombies," Lin Xinghai repeated.
Little Fatty was stunned. He had genuinely thought Lin Xinghai was joking, but he never imagined that the man actually intended to go through with it.
"Uh... No problem," Little Fatty replied immediately.
’Are you kidding? If I can’t even handle Ordinary Zombies, I might as well just roll over and die.’
Even the Intermediate Zombies were easy enough to deal with. After all, their physical strength was only equivalent to breaking two Genetic Locks. For powerhouses like them, who already had one foot in the Blood Qi Realm, it was a piece of cake.
’Only Lin Xinghai’s task would be truly troublesome. After all, the physical prowess of High Level Zombies wasn’t that different from their own.’
’To be frank, they were no pushovers.’
After all, Zombies attacked without any fear for their own lives. In that situation, killing even a single High Level Zombie without sustaining any damage was already a difficult feat.
Even for geniuses like them, who had awakened Rare Level Superpowers, fighting two or even three High Level Zombies at the same time normally wasn’t a major issue.
But if the number increased, fighting four or five High Level Zombies at once would be a real struggle.
If there were any more than that... well, Little Fatty judged that based on his own combat power, he would choose to flee if there were more than five High Level Zombies.
Of course, using kiting tactics, he was still confident he could take out those High Level Zombies one by one.
But this was a team battle; Lin Xinghai couldn’t run.
As the group talked, they rounded a street corner and saw a horde of Zombies over 50 meters away.
Within this horde of Zombies, there were a shocking eight High Level Zombies and twenty-one Intermediate Zombies.
The Zombies spotted them instantly, roaring with excitement as they charged in their direction.
Little Fatty tightened his grip on the massive shield in his hands, ready to activate his Superpower at a moment’s notice.
Liu Miaomiao drew her Foil, and Jin Tong unsheathed his long saber, both readying themselves.
But Little Fatty saw that Lin Xinghai didn’t reach for the long gun on his back. Instead, he took up the Tearing Rifle hanging at his waist.
’What’s he doing?’
Little Fatty was utterly bewildered.
But he couldn’t help but call out a reminder, "Brother Lin, ordinary bullets can’t kill High Level Zombies."
"I know." As he spoke, Lin Xinghai switched off the safety, set the Tearing Rifle to full-auto, and unhurriedly raised it.
By this point, the Zombie horde was just over twenty meters away.
Both sides were about to collide, but Little Fatty still couldn’t figure out what Lin Xinghai was trying to do.
Just then, gunfire erupted.
RAT-A-TAT-TAT!
The dense report of the bullets almost blended into a single roar, but it was over as quickly as it began.
And then, Little Fatty and Jin Tong witnessed a scene they would likely never forget for the rest of their lives.
The eight High Level Zombies in the horde all had blood erupt from their heads at almost the exact same instant. In the next moment, they collapsed to the ground, dead.
Little Fatty’s mind was reeling. He couldn’t comprehend what had just happened.
’Those were eight High Level Zombies! If they ganged up, even the top-tier geniuses he followed would probably have to endure a fierce battle to finish them.’
’But Lin Xinghai had just insta-killed them—all eight of them at once.’
’Could he be using Armor-Piercing Bullets?’
That was the first explanation that came to Little Fatty’s mind, but he dismissed it in the very next instant.
’Because it wasn’t an issue with the bullets. Even if they had Armor-Piercing Bullets, they could never have achieved such a result.’
’Little Fatty considered his own Gun Technique to be quite good. In any ordinary Shelter, he would probably be considered a Divine Sharpshooter.’
’But even for him, hitting a High Level Zombie would require at least a second or two of careful aiming.’
’But Lin Xinghai just now! He had seen with his own eyes that the man actually dared to use full-auto mode when gunning down High Level Zombies.’
’And what was more terrifying was that he still managed to score a headshot with every single bullet.’
’That was more ridiculous than shooting at a stationary target!’
Little Fatty and Jin Tong were frozen in a daze, but Liu Miaomiao was not. Seeing the horde of Zombies about to crash into them, she raised her Foil and charged to meet it head-on.
With a sharp cry, she aimed the tip of her sword directly at the Intermediate Zombie leading the charge.
The Zombie tried to dodge instinctively, but in that instant, motes of green light floated from its body.
The Zombie’s Speed instantly flagged, and Liu Miaomiao’s sword plunged unerringly into the space between its brows.
After killing one Intermediate Zombie in the blink of an eye, she immediately withdrew her sword and slashed at another.
At that moment, the Zombies near Liu Miaomiao all had their Life Force siphoned away. Even losing a small fraction was enough to leave their bodies weakened, reducing their speed and reaction time.
Under such conditions, Liu Miaomiao killed several Zombies in the blink of an eye.
Only then did Little Fatty and Jin Tong seem to snap out of their stupor.
Not daring to delay, they immediately rushed forward.
Jin Tong’s Superpower erupted. His entire body was instantly wreathed in flames, and even the long saber in his hand transformed into a Blazing Long Saber.
With a single slash, even if a Zombie wasn’t cleaved in two, flames would cling to its body, causing it to howl in agony as it burned.
As for Little Fatty, not to be outdone, a gale erupted from his body and instantly enveloped the huge Fine Steel Shield in his hands.
The Fine Steel Shield was originally quite heavy and not at all easy to wield, but buoyed by the gale, its weight was instantly reduced by more than half.
Little Fatty raised it high with ease.
And as he swung it down, the gale shifted from supporting the shield to accelerating it, lending the already heavy Fine Steel Shield a truly Giant Strength.
Each time he smashed it down, two or three Zombies would be bludgeoned into a pulp of broken bones and mangled flesh.
In that moment, Little Fatty was like a miniature, humanoid T-Rex.
